Close to 25,000 Experiencing Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Approximately 25,000 households in south-east Queensland found themselves without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the state, bringing powerful gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Impact
Residents reported substantial frozen pellets measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the widespread outages.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly one thousand households in Victoria also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled over five hundred calls for help across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

During the peak on the previous day, more than 28k power users in the state were lacking electricity.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with persistent storm activity expected across different parts of both states.

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
