Fans Demand Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are calling for that a individual who breached a barrier and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared video shows the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile contains recordings of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last year.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the finale of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another response on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned event staff at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while others demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande seemed surprised when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Many of attendees had congregated in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore shopping center, including a number who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The film, to be premiered on 21 November, is the second of a two-film interpretation of the popular stage production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising relationship between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, winning two for excellent wardrobe and production design.
