Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
